Nadiricon is a blackened punk band with strong thrash metal elements originally from northwestern Mississippi, now stationed in
central Mississippi. With Nadiricon, I mostly write about southern history, literature, folklore, culture, the American Civil War
and howling mockery at protestant heresy that is rampant all throughout the south. Everything is basically recorded with a tin can on a string.
Everything with Nadiricon has been recorded in D standard tuning, and I will most likely be tuning up to E with future releases. Either I'm
not creative enough or playing in D standard doesn't feel fun anymore.
Nadiricon started in the early/mid summer of 2019 in rural Mississippi by Lord Maul of Damnation as a dark ambient/drone
project that I wanted to use as a starting point for writing music. It was during this time that I started learning how to play drums and guitar
simultaneously, something that I still wish I approached very differently.
From the very beginning, I had always imagined Nadiricon being black metal, however, the vision was much different. I initially wanted to
pursue a black/death metal style that took a lot of influence from Archgoat, Beherit, Profanatica, Incantation, Infester and Abhorer
with a tinge of punk influence. In the summer of 2020 during covid lockdown, I went on a massive 80's punk bender. During that time,
I had lost interest in pursuing a blackened death metal style and decided to completely hammer down a black/thrash/punk sound. I teased the idea
of pursuing said black/death style under a different project, but it completely fell through and now the interest is no longer there.
The word "Nadiricon" is a portmanteau of the two words nadir and panopticon. Nadiricon means being stuck in the lowest point in your life with
zero chance of escaping. It sounds like something an angsty teen would come up with, but I don't care, I'm satisfied with it lol.
Nadiricon is manned solely by me, Lord Maul of Damnation. I have had other folks helping out with guitar work in the past, but they
never really stuck around. I don't really plan on having anyone else cover any faculties at the moment outside of possible live performances.
The influences in Nadiricon's current incarnation include Venom, Bathory, Dead Kennedys, Adolescents, Profanatica, Gorgoroth, early Slayer,
Motorhead, Discharge (a whole lotta Discharge), glam era Pantera, Gism, Def Leppard, and Motley Crue.
In recent memory, I've been trying my hardest to shove glam rock into my style, and it's had some really interesting results. The earliest
example of this is the track Hallucinations of Owl Creek from Evangelische Dammerung, where I've essentialy ripped the intro riff
from Power Metal by Pantera and stretched it into a hard hitting blackened thrash/punk track
